In May 2011, the Department of Health and Human Services’ Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) task order contract, with $1 billion to be distributed over a period of performance consisting of a 5-year base period with five 1-year option periods to 10 different companies (Contract # HHSM-500-2011-00020I). Optimal is listed among the 10 companies that received this contract. Under this IDIQ, Optimal conducts general research, analysis, and demonstration and survey activities relating to Medicare, Medicaid, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program issues related to uninsured populations, and other aspects of CMS program responsibilities. CMS is the federal agency responsible for the operation and oversight of the Medicare program and the federal government’s participation in the state-operated Medicaid and State Child Health Insurance Programs.
