UMD’s human-computer interaction lab launched 34th annual symposium

Date: May 25, 2017
Location: College Park, MD

The Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL) hosted its 34th Annual Symposium on May 25, 2017, at the University of Maryland, College Park. The HCIL symposium was founded in 1983 with a mission to transform the experience people have with new technologies. Optimal Solutions Group, LLC (Optimal) has been a long-term sponsor for this gathering of innovative thinkers. Alongside Optimal joins sponsors such as Bloomberg, Capital One, Interactions Magazine, Microsoft, and Yahoo! Labs. The symposium included discussions on the features of credibility in social media conversations, diversity in matching markets, user interactions and permissions use on androids, using visual analytics to analyze design processes, and the comparisons of different hacker/software testing communities. The sponsors teamed with the University of Maryland in providing workshops, talks, and tutorials on the latest human-computer interaction technologies. In addition, the program featured keynote speakers from the field of computer science, and concluded with a reception that included demonstrations and a poster session.
